How to make Jackfruit slices?

These jackfruit slices are made by extracting the pulp from a jackfruit . First, the jackfruit is plucked from the tree, after which the skin is removed and the extra pulp is extracted. Finally pulp is sliced according to the standard and that slices are dehydrated to reduce its moisture level up to specific value. We use commercial dehydrator for this, because not to damage product color, taste and aroma.

What are the Jackfruit benefits by using as food?

  1. Rich in nutrients: Jackfruit is a good source of essential nutrients such as dietary fiber, vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, and vitamin B6. These nutrients play various roles in supporting overall health, including proper digestion, immune function, heart health, and nerve function.
  2. High in dietary fiber: Jackfruit contains a significant amount of dietary fiber, which aids in digestion and helps promote regular bowel movements. Adequate fiber intake can also help manage weight, control blood sugar levels, and reduce the risk of certain diseases such as heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
  3. Antioxidant properties: Jackfruit contains antioxidants such as vitamin C and other phytonutrients that help protect the body against oxidative stress caused by harmful free radicals. Antioxidants play a role in reducing inflammation, supporting the immune system, and potentially lowering the risk of chronic diseases.
  4. Potential anti-cancer properties: Some studies suggest that certain compounds found in jackfruit, such as phytonutrients and antioxidants, may have anti-cancer properties. They may help inhibit the growth of cancer cells and reduce the risk of certain types of cancers.
  5. Supports heart health: Jackfruit is naturally low in saturated fat and cholesterol and contains potassium, which is beneficial for heart health. Potassium helps regulate blood pressure levels and may lower the risk of heart disease and stroke.
  6. May aid in digestion: The fiber content in jackfruit can help promote healthy digestion and prevent constipation. It may also support the growth of beneficial gut bacteria, contributing to a healthy gut micro biome.
  7. Potential anti-inflammatory properties: Some components found in jackfruit have been studied for their potential anti-inflammatory effects. Inflammation is linked to various chronic diseases, so consuming anti-inflammatory foods like jackfruit may help reduce inflammation in the body.

How about the jackfruit taste?

Unripe/Green Jackfruit: When unripe, jackfruit has a mild and neutral taste. It is often described as starchy and slightly tangy. The flesh is firm and less sweet compared to ripe jackfruit. Unripe jackfruit is commonly used as a meat substitute in savory dishes because its texture resembles pulled pork or chicken when cooked.
